Terms

The rules for posting a move, quoting, booking and paying on uShift.

Last updated 7 November 2026

Draft. This page describes how uShift works today and will be replaced by a reviewed version before launch.

  1. What uShift is

uShift is an online marketplace. We do not move goods ourselves: the transport company you book carries out your move, and the agreement for the move is between you and them. We run the platform, check transport companies before they can quote, hold the booking payment and step in if something goes wrong.

  2. Your account

An account belongs to one mobile number. Keep access to it to yourself, and keep the details you give us accurate.

  3. Posting a move and getting quotes

Up to five checked transport companies can send a sealed quote within the quoting window. Nobody sees another company’s price.

You can change your move until you accept a quote. A change cancels the quotes already sent, and the companies are told so they can quote again. Once you accept a quote, the move cannot be edited.

  4. Price and payment

You pay exactly the price you accept. Nothing is added on top.

You pay part of it online when you book, through our payment provider, Razorpay. You pay the rest directly to the transport company on delivery day.

  5. If the price needs to change

Before pickup, a price can change only if you and the transport company both agree, and by no more than 10%. After loading has started, a change needs photographs and our team’s approval.

  6. Damage and disputes

Damage or loss in transit is covered by the transport company’s goods in transit insurance, which we check before they can quote. uShift does not insure goods; we help both sides reach a resolution.

Report a problem from your move’s page. While a dispute is open, the transport company’s payout is held.

  7. Contact details before booking

Until a booking is paid, phone numbers and email addresses stay off the platform’s messages. We may flag and review a message that shares them, and repeated attempts can lead to an account being suspended.

  8. Cancellations and refunds

The rules for cancelling a booking and for refunds will be published here before launch.

  9. For transport companies

Before quoting, a company must provide GST, PAN, vehicle RCs, valid goods in transit insurance and bank details, and pass an office visit by our team. If an RC or the insurance lapses, new quoting stops until it is renewed.

  10. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. We may update them; the date at the top shows when they last changed.

  11. Contact

A named grievance officer, with an email address and a response time, will be published here before launch.
